Fix the titles first

Every page needs a unique title that says what the page is and where it is for. "Home" and "Products" are not descriptions. The pattern that works is: what it is, the differentiator, the place.

One page per thing you sell

Grouping every product into a single "Shop" page means you only have one URL competing. Separate pages cost nothing and let each one rank for its own phrase.

  • Name: descriptive, includes the category word
  • Description: one sentence with the benefit and the place
  • Image alt text: describe the image, do not stuff keywords

Make it fast and legible on a phone

Most of your traffic is a phone on a mobile connection. Compress images before uploading, avoid hero videos that autoplay, and make sure the price and the buy button are visible without scrolling.

Ask for reviews properly

Reviews supply both the words and the freshness search engines reward. Ask after a successful delivery, make it a single link, and reply to every one — including the good ones.

Local details that get skipped

  • Consistent name, address and phone number wherever the business is listed
  • Opening hours updated on holidays
  • A map embed that actually loads fast

Do the boring technical checks once

A sitemap submitted to Search Console, a robots.txt that is not blocking anything, and pages that return 200 rather than soft-404. This takes an hour and prevents months of quiet confusion.

Then stop optimising and start selling

Further technical work has sharply diminishing returns for a small shop. After the checklist above, the best use of your time is better photos, clearer copy and asking happy customers for a review.
